    hello!!

I felt like I wouldn't be the only one wanting to ask the lucky one who already went to Korea some advise so I posted this topic here...

Actually I stopped my studies this month and I have a year in front of me before going back to studying so I'm thinking about going to Korea.
I know that going there for a long stay will take a lot of money but is it possibly for foreigners to find work in Korea without diplomas? Maybe it's better to make money for a few month in my country before going there only to visit and study the language?
I'm thinking about living in Seoul do you recommend living in guest-house?
If some of you worked as a foreigner in Korea could you please share some of your experiences?

I hope that there will be people to answer this questions :panda_finger:

I had an F4 visa so I didn't have any problems getting private tutoring jobs, ranging from middle school students to working professionals. I found my students through the yonsei/sogang bulletin boards at the time. I think private tutoring is illegal for foreigners unless you have a working visa or f4.

I went to Korea to study the language and since I didn't take too much money, I did the part time work. If I did it over again, I would have saved money before I went so that I didn't have to work. Wish had more time to hangout with new found friends and take weekend trips to explore the country.

I stayed at a hasook-jip (boarding house) where the nice ajumma prepared breakfast and dinner. Again, if I did it over again, I would find a small studio apartment. If you are doing a short stay, then dorm or guest house/host family would make more sense.

Hey! Your plan sounds great, would love to do that one day too. How did things work out? I'd love to hear about it, as I am thinking about doing something like that too after I get my Bachelor degree.

I haven't been there in so long I've almost forgotten what it's like. My last visit was a study abroad back in 2007 so I didn't really have to find work since I lived in the dorms. But when I was wandering around on my free time I was able to get around smoothly without much knowledge of speaking Korean. I was able to travel the subways and use buses with a limited knowledge of Hangul. It also helps that a lot of places for public transportation are Romanized! I also found it helpful that I was able to access my bank account from certain banks and ATM machines without a fee! The only side draw to that was it would tell me how much was in my bank account in terms of Won rather than Dollars, so I always had to remind myself that no I was not a millionaire, I just had a thousand dollars for the semester lol
