POST 1 - INFORMATION & F.A.Q RELATED TO TIMING


1. WHAT IS THE RAW VIDEO VERSION THAT THE SUBS BEING SYNC WITH?

The SUB is sync with XVID raw video ver. Most of our subs in DSS are sync with XVID raw video version unless we stated if it being sync with different version of raw video encoded.


2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN XVID & 450P?

Video quality. 450p raw video using x264 HD Video Codec, which means the picture and pixels quality is more better than XVID.


3. WHY THE SUBS IS SYNC WITH XVID ENCODED RAW VIDEO? AND NOT 450P?

This is because, XVID codec is the fastest to encode, simple in process of encoding and smaller in size. Compare to 450p raw video ver (which is x264 HD Video codec),450p require more time to encode, complex in process of encoding and bigger size compare to XVID video ver. The team that making early stage of subtitle will sync with the raw video that being release the most earliest. And the most earliest raw video that always being release is in XVID encoded version.


4. WHY SOMETIMES THE SUB ARE NOT SYNC PERFECTLY WITH THE VIDEO EVEN WE DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO FROM THE SAME ENCODER?

Please be advise that even you download the video from the same encoder but different version (Example like:- HANrel XVID or HANrel 720p or HANrel 450p), it does not means that every video will have same length. The latest issue that happen is like this:

MWTS EP15 HANrel - XVID : 1:07:21,741

MWTS EP15 HANrel - 450p : 1:07:21,241

Even the encoder are same, it does not guarantee that the length are same. I'm not saying that this happen every time, but sometimes issue like this happen.


5. HOW COULD WE FIXED THE OFF SYNC TIMING ISSUE?

Please report or contact either the Moderators/Elite Member/Editor/Timer that working with the related drama/movies/variety show. DO NOT FIXED THE TIMING IN DarkSmurf CTS EDITOR BY YOURSELF with any other encoded version video because at the end, it will just mess up the original work.

POST 2 - ADJUSTING SUBTITLE SYNC IN MEDIA PLAYER



1. ADJUSTING THE TIMING/SYNC IN GOM PLAYER

- While playingthe video, right-click on the window, under "Subtitle" there an option to faster or slower the sync by 0.5 second.

- The HOTKEYS is "<"= 0.5 sec slower & ">"= 0.5 sec faster.

2. ADJUSTING THE TIMING/SYNC IN MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC

- While playing the video, click on "View > Option... ", under"Player > Keys" scroll down until you see the command for"Subtitle Delay".

- The HOTKEYS is "F1" = delay by 0.5 sec & "F2" = faster by 0.5 sec.

3. ADJUSTING THE TIMING/SYNC IN VLC MEDIA PLAYER

- While playing the video,click on "Tool > Preferences", under"Hotkeys" scroll down until you see the command for "SubtitleDelay".

- The HOTKEYS is "h" = delay by 0.5 sec & "g" = faster by 0.5 sec.

POST 3 - RULES FOR EDITING THE TIMING


FOR CTS TRANSLATOR/EDITOR/CASUAL

1. Please report/PM to the CTS Elite member that working on that drama/movie project.

2. If the timing is off sync in few lines and could be manage, please feel free to adjust it. Be advice, please time it properly so that the viewer could see the text in enough time.

3. If the timing is off sync in lots of parts in the entire subtitle, please contact the CTS Elite member that working on that certain project or any CTS Timer.

4. If the timing is not fixed properly or it getting more messy, you will just gain BAD REPUTATION and making other frustrated. Please stop it before you being warned or being taken action by CTS Enforcer.




FOR CTS TIMER

1. Please make sure to use raw video that already been defined by DarkSmurf to sync it with the sub. Do not used other than already defined raw video version because it might messed up the entire sub. (For example, if the raw video is defined by DarkSmurf as HANrel-Xvid, please download and use only HANrel-Xvid and not HANrel-450p or HANrel-720p).

2. Please make sure you edit the timing a bit so that it would be easier for the viewers to easily see the full text. This is to prevent the subtitles and contextual meanings to flash by the screen. (Credit to Relly & WaGGy)

3. If the timing is off sync in lots of the part in the entire sub, please download the sub & fix it by using subtitle editing tool. Then, send it to CTS Elite of the project or any CTS Timer for QCing the fixed subtitle.

4. If CTS Timer feel that couldn't handle it or mess it up while fixing it, please contact/PM Senior CTS Timer for help.
