Synopsis

The drama series “Bridal Mask” which set against the Japanese occupation era unveiled its curtain.

KBS 2TV Wednesday and Thursday drama series “Bridal Mask” which debuted on May 30th, 2012 was receiving warm response.

“Bridal Mask” is an adaptation from the comic “Doll Mask” by Heo Young Man, which depicts the heroes during the Japanese occupation era. Due to the starring of actor Joo Won, Shin Hyun Joon, Han Chae Ah, and Ji Se Yun, it gathered high-profile attention before broadcast.

After lifting the veil on May 30th, 2012, the responses of viewers for “Bridal Mask” are, “Action scenes are great, there is nothing that is embarrassing,” “The acting is really great,” “It become the opportunity to look back at the painful past,” and so on. It can be seen that the acting and action scene in the drama received a lot of concern.

Audience is also curious about who is the “bridal mask” who would appear whenever Mok Dan (Jin Se Yun) is in danger. There are a lot of reactions like “Very curious who is behind the doll mask?” “Looking forward to what kind of scenes will bridal mask have in future,” “About to see who is it,” and so on.

The acting of Joo Won who plays the role of Jongro police station detective Lee Kang To also received a lot of support. The father of Lee Kang To was killed, and the elder brother also become a fool due to cruel torture. But he is loyal to Japanese Empire. To the acting of Joo Won in the drama which is disgusting yet sadden people’s heart, viewers said, “Goosebumps after watching,” “Bad guy which is not a bad guy, feel sad but also fear,” and so on.

Shin Hyun Joon who plays the role of elder brother Lee Kang San who turned into a fool also won recognition for excellent acting skill. Lee Kang San who admitted to law university with smart brain was implicated due to reading party incident, and become a fool after cruel torture. Shin Hyun Joon naturally portrayed the role of Lee Kang San.

All three main Wednesday and Thursday drama debuted on May 30th, 2012. Among them, how many people will accept the uncommon period drama “Bridal Mask” is under the spotlight.

I love this drama. It's not the type of drama that I like to watch but I gave the first episode a try and was blown away. I feel connected with the characters and their emotions. I will continue to watch this and hope that the drama can keep up the high quality.

On a side note, it seems that this drama is not too popular here? I hope everyone will give it a try.

Extensions for Gaksital

Extensions ahoy! Guess we’re just going to be neck-deep in overlapping dramas for a while. Eek! We’ll have to reserve some extra time in the fourth dimension and eat all our wheaties to make it out of this alive. KBS has confirmed a 4-episode extension for its Wednesday-Thursday epic action-adventure drama Gaksital (Bridal Mask), bringing the new total episode count to 28. It’ll now conclude its run on August 30 and push Nice Guy’s premiere to September 5.


Gaksital was the Wednesday-Thursday ratings leader right out of the gate, and has maintained its lead, now at the 14-15% range. Because it’s doing well and was originally conceived as a 30-episode drama, it makes sense that KBS would push for an extension. I do think that it’s a drama with a rich enough world to sustain an extension — there are certainly plenty of characters (one might even say too many), and I still want to spend a lot more downtime with each of the main characters to fill out their stories and their motivations.

I have to admit that this drama seems to be a bit too heavy for my standards but I can’t stop watching I’m already too into it.

I watched 6 episodes so far, I couldn’t continue right away after Episode 6, because my heart was only one step away from shattering into hundreds of pieces…

I don’t cry too easily when it comes to dramas and yesterday, when I watched Episode 6, I didn’t cry as well but that was because I simply couldn’t.

I was at a point where crying wasn’t possible anymore.

Joo Won’s acting (especially in this episode) is brilliant, it’s just brilliant.

And not only his of course but since he plays the main character the focus is naturally on him.

So right at the moment I don’t care what this drama will do to me in future, I’m well aware of the darkness of this drama and that I better shouldn’t expect a happy end…still this is an amazing show and I definitely don’t regret watching it!

I'm totally hooked. LOVE IT. My favourite drama this year.

Brilliant casting all round - great acting - storyline and character arc for the whole cast is brilliantly scripted - and the choreography for the fight scenes is brilliant too ... BRIDAL MASK ticks all the right boxes.

I've never spent so much time using 'refresh page' icon LOL

So grateful to the subbers for this excellent drama.

A MUST SEE drama.

Joo Won & Jin Se Yun talk about their kiss scene and their friendship

‘Bridal Mask’s Joo Won and Jin Se Yun keep in touch on a regular basis.

On July 21st, KBS ‘Entertainment Report’ team has visited the set of the drama ‘Bridal Mask’.

… The reporter proceeded with the ‘OX’ (Yes or No) talk segment with Joo Won and Jin Se Yun.

One of the questions was, “Are you guys close enough to keep in touch personally?”, to which Joo Won and Jin Se Yun both held the ‘O’ (yes) sign.

Joo Won said jokingly, “You keep touch with Park Ki Woong too, right?”, and he looked towards Jin Se Yun with jealousy filled eyes.

The reporter also asked if they were nervous about the kiss scene they had recently filmed and both of them had answered yes again.

Joo Won explained about the kiss scene, “It was a delicate scene and it also had to look pretty, so the scene did make me feel nervous. But of course I also got nervous because it was Se Yun.”

When Joo Won was asked about Jin Se Yun’s charm he stated, “She’s a bright person, that brightness energizes people around her”, and he gave her a warm praise.

OMGOSH...

...almost every episode ends with Shunji pointing his gun at Kang To hahaha!! xD And the whole "let us just capture Mok Dan and use her as bait to solve all our problems" is getting a bit old, especially when it raises more problems and solves nothing lol. Also, the cliffhanger endings are faking out far too much - I'm almost expecting the ep 16 ending to be another fake-out.

Eg. "Shunji: you helped Dam Sal Ri to escape, didn't you? Kang To: no no, Shunji, why would I be chasing him all this way if I was helping him? Shunji: oh okay." xD

But I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE how Dam Sal Ri now knows that Kang To is good, and the scene where he tells his daughter that if he gets transferred, only Kang To can help her made me jump up and sing HALLELUJAH haha!! It's the first step to figuring out that Kang To is Gaksital. Now, Mok Dan just needs to figure out who he is. She's a bit slow lol (how can Kang To NOT have recognised you in ep 13 when he saw your undisguised face FULL ON), and why on earth does she walk around the streets without a disguise when people are trying to capture her? Silly girl. She's too unsuspecting to have survived this long without secret help from the two dudes who love her.

BUT, I LOVE THIS DRAMA! ♥
