I Do, I Do Episode 8 Recaps

Tae Gang awkwardly wakes up at the Incheon police station, with Chung Baek and some police officers peering at him. He jerks to his feet, apologizing, and wonders what he had caused. Chung Baek gestures to his cuffed dad and the scammer at the police desk.
He bails his dad out, and, as they walk outside, his dad demands to know his relationship with Ji An. Tae Gang is more interested in the fact that they’re out of money now and his dad didn’t see fit to inform him that they had been scammed. He walks away angrily, asking what kind of family they are without trust.
Bong Soo drives Ji An back, recounting the Pak family history with shoes and their fall from grace, including an arrest. Bong Soo tells her about the sale of the house, and how they had been living in a sauna. She recalls Tae Gang’s words in the interrogation room.
Bong Soo wonders about Ji An’s pride, after what Tae Gang had said, but she silences him.
As Tae Gang heads in to the office, he agonizes over the memory of Chung Baek relating what he had said to Ji An in a drunken stupor.
Ji An’s dad calls on Eun Seong to meet at a cafe. Her dad notes that the situation had been inexcusable, but he entreats Eun Seong to convince Ji An to abort the baby. Eun Seong begs to differ, however, and notes that Ji An has what it takes to be a single mother. Her dad starts to leave, but Eun Seong reveals that this may be her first and last chance for a baby, given that she has been diagnosed for early menopause.
At the office, Lady Jang brings a painting for Ji An’s office to show her favor. She expresses looking forward to the collaboration.
Na Ri witnesses the scene, and tries to think up a strategy to draw the attention away from Ji An, who will most likely be given all the credit. Jake notes it should be easy, but Na Ri thinks that Ji An’s behavior lately shows that she’s been plotting late into the night.
When Ji An steps into the team office, Ha Yun informs her that Tae Gang is late and unreachable.
Ji An returns to her office, and imagines Tae Gang committing suicide because of all the things she’s said to him. She shakes off the thought and asks Seung Mi to clear her afternoon schedule.
She goes to the restaurant to check if he’s there. She talks to the baby, now dubbed “ankle”, blaming it for her actions. She turns to leave, but jumps back when she sees Tae Gang’s dad peering at her.
The two of them sit in the restaurant with Chung Baek, and when his dad starts to give her the third degree, she deflects the questions to Chung Baek. Chung Baek stammers that she’s Tae Gang’s supervisor, and that she had been the one to report them in to the police. She kicks him under the table, and he sums that there’s no relationship between Ji An and Tae Gang. His dad is indignant at the suffering they’ve had to endure, but she notes that he hadn’t taught his son any good values, starting with the imitations. He reveals that Tae Gang is treated as an outcast and made to do menial work due to his lack of skill or training, and tells them that Tae Gang must report to work or risk being fired. As she turns to leave, Tae Gang’s dad defends his qualities.
Tae Gang wonders through the city, looking at wanted ads.
In the office, Ji An’s employees are busily packing away her things to make way for a new Chief Designer: Tae Gang. She jerks awake, at her office desk, wondering if it’s something like a baby dream.
She starts to leave, just as Tae Gang walks in. He tells her that he’s quitting since he’ll be fired soon enough anyway. She calls him out for quitting, and tells him that he would need to compensate her for the lost design: valued at approximately $1 million in lost revenue. She pities his father, who is still proud of his son. As she turns to leave, she tells him that she had never considered him a man and never will.
He goes home to the restaurant, hurt reflected in his eyes, as he ponders her final words.
His dad chokes back his sadness, as he eats and looks at a picture of the two of them in the restaurant storeroom. He pretends to sleep when Tae Gang arrives, but then asks about the latter’s whereabouts. He tells Tae Gang to quit the company, having never liked big business. Tae Gang remembers how his grandma had told him about his dad: that, at his age, his wife had run away, leaving him the baby, so they had to throw away pride just to live. He resolves to pay back the debt and earn a lot of money, then offers a wrestling match to make up.
Tae Gang reports back to work the next day, in renewed spirits. Everybody is too busy to pay attention to him or his apology, however. Even Ji An is in a frenzy, scrambling to prepare for an inspection.
Dr. Yang calls Ji An in the midst of this, as her new OB/GYN, but she tells him to send her an email instead.
Dr. Yang goes to Eun Seong in a huff, unable to deal with her, and tells Eun Seong to deal with the “rare case” himself.
The team has a meeting about the collaboration, where Na Ri has asked them to present their designs for Jake. After they have been displayed, Jake notes his disappointment, while Na Ri asks if Ji An is in a slump. Jake and Na Ri proposing creating designs in two teams, which Jake and Ji An will lead. The employees will be given a chance to select which team leader they would like to work under.
The employees discuss the politics and Ji An’s state, as Tae Gang listens in concern.
He walks out, unable to tell them that her recent state is due to the pregnancy. He encounters Na Ri and Jake, who invite him to join their team.
Tae Gang later seeks Bong Soo out, and brag about how Na Ri had called him a friend. Bong Soo laments that he’s still bottom rung after 15 years, but Tae Gang had managed to get close to two CEO candidates. Tae Gang confidently tells Bong Soo that their worries are over, now that he’s a friend of the VP. The two decide to have a celebration dinner with Tae Gang’s family.
At her office, Ji An notes that Da In and Seung Mi will most likely join her team. Together with “ankle”, that makes four in her team, which should be enough for now. Unfortunately, all of the employees have opted to join Jake’s team. Seung Mi is last to join, although she admits to Tae Gang that she’s not doing it because she wants to.
Tae Gang enters a seething Ji An’s office, joining her team, and offers to laugh loudly to show off to the other team when he hears them making noise. She tells him to leave, and he asks her if she wants to eat pig’s feet now, in an effort to raise her spirits. She declines and asks him to leave again.
He walks out, and sees everybody having fun in Na Ri’s office.
Alone in her office, later, she seethes, wondering how not even one of her employees had joined her. She steps out, bothered by the painting of the stern lady staring at her. She starts to notice that her chest is sore, however, and takes off her bra for a stretch.
Tae Gang walks in at that moment, and she screams as he tries to avert his eyes. He had come back, wondering if he could help with something. She tells him to leave again, and walks away awkwardly.
Eun Seong arrives at her building, wanting to see her, and runs into Tae Gang when he arrives at her floor. Tae Gang shows him to the office, and is then asked to serve some juice.
Eun Seong tells her that Dr. Yang had refused to work with her, so he has to find another doctor for her. He gives her a baby book, and lays down the “don’ts” of pregnancy (heavy lifting, night shifts, etc), particularly wearing heels, as chances of miscarriage in the first trimester go up with age. Anything but that, she tells him; she’s a shoe designer after all.
He tells her about his dad’s visit, and about revealing the state of her health. She angrily asks why, but tries to calm down as she admits Tae Gang into the office. Tae Gang brings in the juice and some fruit, noticing the baby book on the table. Eun Seong rises to introduce himself, and picks up the baby book, trying to hide the fact that it was for Ji An.
She stresses over her parents’ disapproval, her staff’s gossip, the upcoming presidential nominations, and the advice to refrain from heels. Eun Seong tries to calm her for the baby’s sake, and she stresses over not being able to get mad, either. She asks him to leave.
He takes off in his car, while Ji An remains in her office, crying, with her heels off. Tae Gang hears her from outside, and struggles with himself, wanting to check in on her.
His phone rings, however, as his dad, Chung Baek, and Bong Soo wonder why he’s late. He hangs up on them, and tells Ji An he’s leaving, his face reflecting his concern over her slumped figure. He returns as she gets up, inviting her to the dinner. She tries to tell him to leave again, but he takes her purse to lure her out. She follows him, and he manages to get her into a taxi with him.
Eun Seong picks up some medicine for her at the pharmacy, but she is gone when he returns to the office. He observes that her phone and car are still in the office, however.
Tae Gang takes Ji An to the party with Bong Soo and his family, and they wonder at her presence. She is a little put off, but his dad tells her to eat and go, since she’s made it this far. She joins them reluctantly, and Tae Gang drapes his jacket on her. Her mouth starts to water, as they grill, which does not slip Tae Gang’s or his dad’s notice. Tae Gang tries to feed her a cabbage roll, but she pulls it off to eat herself.
Meanwhile, Eun Seong tries to knock at her apartment door.
At the rooftop, the party starts drinking, but when Tae Gang’s dad offers her some alcohol, Tae Gang tells them that she’s allergic to alcohol. Bong Soo tries to say otherwise, but Tae Gang blocks that, offering her water instead. They start to sing “Rolling on the River”, just when she starts to squirm the restroom squirm.
Tae Gang starts rummaging through the pile by the shed and digs out a wheelbarrow. She looks at him incredulously as he tells her to get on.
He wheels her down to the store, where she can use the restroom. As he wheels her back up the hill, she tells him that she hadn’t looked at the sky since her younger days, then asks why he had joined her team. He responds that she’d probably be the better teacher. She tells him that she’ll teach him for a month, if he really is interested. He runs up the hill in happiness and excitement, while she yells from behind.
He walks her home later, and, as he turns to leave, she asks why he didn’t let her drink alcohol, at the party or at the karaoke. He responds that she didn’t look like she wanted to. She starts to wonder if he suspects her pregnancy, but Eun Seong calls out to her from the bushes at that very moment.
