Synopsis

Arang: Magistrate’s Chronicle‘s first episode broadcast has been delayed.

Instead of the original date set on 25th July, the date for the broadcast has been pushed back two weeks later to 15th August. According to one of the drama representatives, the delay has been confirmed and the writer, Jung Yoon-Jung also apologized about the matter through Twitter. Lee Jun-Ki’s manager also wrote about it in his Twitter account and hoping that fans would wait for the moment Eun-Oh (Jun-Ki’s character) will make his appearance through the drama.

Apparently, the reason for the delay is to make way for London Olympics 2012 and also to avoid a fierce rating competition with the event broadcast.

For anticipation, Shin Min Ah and Lee Jun Ki’s fantasy new drama “Arang And Magistrate” (아랑사또전) released the short teaser video.

Shin Min Ah , even though she takes the role as the spirit, Arang, once again she shows her cuteness here. While she’s haunting Lee Jun Ki who plays as Eun Ho, the magistrate, she doesn’t look scary or creepy at all, she’s just so adorable.

“Arang and Magistrate” is based on Arang legend, the spirit who never know how she died. To reveal the mystery she asked help from a guy named Eun Ho, because only him who can see her.

MBC TV’s new drama “Arang & the Magistrate” which will start in August with star Yoo Seungho as the Jade Emperor & Park Jun Gyu as the Hades. Right now, the drama is still in the midst of filming.

In this show, the Jade Emperor, who is played by Yoo Seung Ho, has a sexy image, someone whose age is hard to guess, and has delicate features of the handsome youth. His concerns are usually about woman, heavenly peach, arts and gambling.
As to why Yoo Seung Ho picked “Arang & the Magistrate”, he said, “I would like to create a new image of the Jade Emperor. Someone who is old in age but likes to play, someone who is naive, romantic and also dilligent.

Q: The reason why you wanted to make a special appearance in “Arang & the Magistrate”?
A: The reason why I chose to be the Jade Emperor in “Arang” was because we have very little understanding about the Jade Emperor, and the Jade Emperor this character has not been written in depth before, so I would like to show everyone a totally new Jade Emperor. Also, I am very happy to be able to work with Park Jun Gyu Sunbae who is starring as the Hades. During “Warrior Baek Dong Soo”, we were very close, however, we were not able to meet often. This time round in “Arang”, we will have a lot of scenes together. In this drama, the scenes where we will appear in will be one of the interesting ones.

Q: While studying the flower boy style Jade Emperor, a character that was not presented before, did you meet with some difficulties?
A: Although there isn’t much difference of age between the Jade Emperor and Hades, but compared to the Hades has seen enough evildoers, death, they are very different. The Jade Emperor is someone who rules the Heaven and only needs to look at new life and beautiful things. No matter how I see it, the Jade Emperor is just like a kid who is naive and someone who likes to play, but at the same time, someone who is also firm with his beliefs. Although on the surface we are not able to see it, but deep down inside, he is someone who worries about the things happening on Earth.

Q: Do you like this character? Is the character like how you first thought it to be?
A: When we first started our with this character, it was a little hard. Coming up with the scripts and the emotions, costumes, hairstyle and the whole appearance are as hard. We all did not understand, because the Jade Emperor we usually see is someone who is old in age, and not like how it is in the drama, child-like and innocent. This made it hard for me. However, with the help of the staffs, we are all very satisfied with the Jade Emperor we see now.

Q: What kind of expectations do you have for “Arang & the Magistrate”?
A: Because my character is a special appearance, i will not have a lot of scenes, but my scripts are very interesting. The charcaters, storyline, director, scriptwriter, production team and so on are all Korea’s number 1. I am someone who is more introvert and shy, but this time when we were filming, I feel very comfortable.

Q: What are some of the highlights of “Arang & the Magistrate”?
A: The storyline of “Arang & the Magistrate” is quite different from the rest of the period dramas, which makes the show very interesting. Even though it is interesting, there are also its sad parts. Arang might always be smiling, but deep inside her heart, is it filled with sadness. Through many different things, we will be able to present to the audiences a very unexpected enjoyment.
The “Arang & the Magistrate” depicts a story about a female ghost Arang (by Shin Min Ah) who met a Magistrate Woon Oh (by Lee Jun Ki) while trying to solve the mystery behind her wronged death, and ended up as love birds in the Joseon Dynasty. It will be aired in August.
