Plot

Having confirmed their casting back in October, Lee Seung Gi and miss A‘s Suzy will be gearing up for the smallscreen next year with their new historical drama, ‘Guga Medical Book‘.

According to broadcast officials, ‘Guga Medical Book’ was recently picked up by MBC for their Monday/Tuesday time slot as a follow-up to ‘The Horse Doctor‘. The drama will begin airing earlier than expected in April of 2013.

As described previously, the drama is the co-production of PD Shin Woo Chul of ‘Secret Garden‘ and ‘Gentlemen’s Class‘ and writer Kang Eun Kyung of ‘Baker King Kim Tak Gu‘.

The drama will mark Lee Seung Gi and Suzy’s first historical drama of the fantasy/fusion genre telling the tale of a male Gumiho or nine-tailed fox.

Upcoming MBC drama “Medical Novel” is a martial arts drama about Choi Kang-chi (Lee Seung-gi) a half man-half beast who struggles to become human.
Lee Seung-gi takes on the role of Choi Kang-chi who was born between a human mother and a mountain god. He is a curious and thriving character until he realizes he is a half man-half beast and lives a second life.
Lee Seung-gi starred in the drama “The King 2 Hearts” 10 months ago.
Suzy takes on the role of Dam Yeo-wool who has outstanding skills in archery and martial arts. She believes in the nature of humans and justice and is a character who puts weight in the three fundamental principles and the five moral disciplines in human relations. She is an educator in martial arts at a young age and she’s better at it than she is at housework.
The production claims the combination of Lee Seung-gi from “The King 2 Hearts” and Suzy from “Architecture 101” will appeal far better to the viewers.
“Medical Novel” draws the progress of a half man-half beast going through the happiness and sadness of humans in a pleasurable way.
Producer Sin Woo-cheol is responsible for this drama.

Actor Yoo Yeon-Seok is cast in upcoming MBC drama series GU FAMILY BOOK, which has already cast Lee Seung-Gi and Bae Suzy in the lead roles.

Actress Lee Yeon-Hee will make a cameo appearance in upcoming MBC drama series GU FAMILY BOOK starring Lee Seung-Gi & Bae Suzy.

In the drama series, Lee Yeon-Hee will play Yoon Seo-Hwa, who is the mother of Lee Seung-Gi's character. Her own father was a nobleman, but branded a traitor and killed. She then became a gisaeng. Later, she runs away from the man that framed her father and is saved by Koo Wol-Ryung. They fall in love and she gives birth to the character that is later played by Lee Seung-Gi.

The two had no problem digesting their roles and acting out the scenes in the first four episodes, from bickering at their first meeting, to becoming friends.
After the reading, Lee Seung Gi expressed his excitement for the drama and said he looks forward to the journey as his character Choi Kang Chi.
The Writings of Nine Houses is set to start shooting in early February and to air in April, succeeding Horse Doctor.

“Gu Family Book” Unveils First Teaser Stills of Lee Yeon Hee

The actors began shooting earlier this month at Jeju Island, where they filmed the first meeting between their characters Yoon Seo Hwa and Gu Wol Ryun. The two will be playing the parents of Lee Seung Gi’s half human half gumiho character, Choi Kang Chi. As previously reported, Lee Yeon Hee’s special appearance will be short but integral in the development of the story.
“Gu Family Book” is described as a light-hearted martial arts sageuk (historical drama) and will follow Choi Kang Chi’s journey as he strives to become a full human. The drama will premiere on MBC once “Horse Doctor” ends.

On March 18, MBC revealed several still photos from Lee Seung Gi‘s upcoming drama “Book of the House of Gu.”

This is Lee Seung Gi’s first trial at historical fictional drama. He will play the role of Choi Gang Chi, a half-man, half-beast with aggressive and daring personality. The revealed photos show Lee Seung Gi is wearing a dark brown hanbok and flaunting his new long hairdo, which he put up in a small pony tail. His innocent and almost childish-looking, sparkling eyes and warm smile bring out the inner Choi Gang Chi in him. 

During his first filming session on March 14, Lee Seung Gi took a long time to perfect his transformation to a half-beast and half-man and discussed about the drama and its cinematography with producer Shin Woo Cheol for quite a while. He was very eager and involved as he monitored his own acting with the producer after each and every shoot and could not let go of the script from his hands throughout the filming session 

Lee Seung Gi commented after the first filming session, “It is such an honor to work with writer Kang Eung Kyung and producer Shin Woo Cheol. I’m getting good vibes from people I’m acting with, too. I am very excited for this drama. Since this is my first time doing sageuk, I’m paying special attention to details. Right now, I’m practicing my dictation. I want to perfect the drama to meet my fans and viewers’ expectations.” 

Meanwhile, “Book of the House of Gu” is of historical fiction and action genre, portraying the story of Choi Gang Chi, who was born a half-man and half-beast but wants to be a complete human.

Synopsis

A melodrama epic about the great deal of trouble Choi Kang Chi, born as a half-human-half-mythical-creature, who goes through in order to become human and a story of Choi Kang Chi’s journey of struggling in order to live more like a human than anyone else despite not being able to become human. Yoon Seo Hwa (Lee Yeon Hee) and the guardian god of Jiri mountains, Gu Wal Ryung fell in love but due to the trap of their enemies, the Yoon family status fell into ruins. While Seo Hwa was on the run with her maid (Kim Bo Mi), she received news that Wal Ryung had disappeared after a mishap. Feeling unable to raise her son while escaping, she sent him down the river in a basket hoping that someone could take him in.

Choi Kang Chi (Lee Seung Ki) was raised by the Choi family after having been picked up from the river. In the drama, Choi Kang Chi is the son of Gu Wol Ryung, the guardian spirit of Jiri Mountain, and Seo Hwa, his human mother. Kang Chi is an outspoken character who’s full of curiosity. He realizes that he’s a half-human-half-beast through a certain incident and starts living his second life.

Dam Yeo Wool (Suzy) is a master of martial arts and archery. Yeo Wool is an upright character who really values the Three Bonds and Five Relationships in Confucianism, and becomes an instructor at a martial arts center at a young age.

Lee Seung-gi from the upcoming drama “Gu Family Book” tried to jump off a roof.

He takes on the role of half-man, half-beast Choi Kang-chi. In the pictures, Lee is sitting alone on a roof that’s about three meters from the ground.

Lee is up on the roof to listen in on the conversation of Lee Yoo-bi, his crush. The scene here expresses Choi Kang-chi in a way that shows he is actually a hurtful character; while on the outside, he’s wrapping himself.

Lee didn’t hesitate to climb high up onto the three meter high roof unlike the others who worried about him. He even calmed them down with a smile.

Park Tae-yeong, the managing producer said, “Lee Seung-gi‘s looks and height caused the scene to look like a scene from a movie. It’s hard to believe that this is his first action drama because he is doing very well”.

Meanwhile, “Gu Family Book” is a fantasy martial arts drama about Choi Kang-chi, a half-man, half-beast who struggles to become human. To be aired on the 8th of April.

On “2013 Spring MBC Drama Big 3 Special,” which aired on April 1, Suzy was interviewed for her new upcoming fusion fantasy drama “Gu Family Book.”

When asked about her co-star Lee Seung Gi, Suzy answered, “He takes good care of me and is very nice. He encourages me to practice and we get along really well.”

She continued, “I knew that he would be nice, but I didn’t realize that he would be this nice. I think he takes good care of people around him”

Actress Lee Yoo Bi, who will play the role of Lee Seung Gi’s first love, also agreed as she stated, “We became good friends. He has a very caring nature.”

Lee Seung Gi, who for the first time will be working with an actress who is younger than him, added, “I try to be responsible, but since Suzy is so popular nowadays, I have no big worries for our drama.”

MBC's upcoming historical drama “GU Family Book” reveals first official poster.

On April 1st, MBC revealed the first poster of “Gu Family Book” featuring dynamic double Lee Seung Gi.

In the poster, Lee Seung Gi's character, Choi Kang Chi shows the two sides of himself. One is the human side of him, dressed in blue. The other one is his gumiho side, dressed in red with silver hair and a different appearance.

In the drama, Choi Kang Chi will go a quest to look for a book that has the secret to become a full human. He was raised by a human family, so he desired to become a full human, instead of the half-human half-nine tailed fox that he currently is.

Another set of still cuts featuring Lee Seung Gi and Suzy on MBC‘s new drama ‘Book of the House of Gu‘ has been revealed, adding to the buzz that is already surrounding this drama.
