"Are you serious?" A man said. He was one of the judges in this audition, and he's known to be extremely critical and harsh. I wondered how many contestants have cried over the years through his judgement. "You cannot sing; your pitch is all over the place! And you can't dance! You're practically dancing like a robot! Heck! Even a robot dances better than you do!"
The person inside began to cry. I mean, who wouldn't? "Please! Please! You have no idea how much this means to me! I really have to succeed! Please just let me pass! I will do my best next time! I will try even harder!"
I scoffed as I turned around, crossed my arms and leaned my back against the wall with my right feet placed firmly on the wall, supporting myself. A part of me wanted to leave that place immediately, but another part of me told me to stay.
"I will really do my best!" The participant pleaded. I really wanted to tell him to suck it up and that this business isn't meant for him after hearing him sing, but I put a halt to my thoughts. "My family depends on me now and I really have to get in, be famous, and earn a lot of money!"
"Well, son," said the female judge. "It is okay to have a dream, and to have a goal to help your family, but training under our company─or any other company, even─isn't going to be easy. And it will take longer than you thought, sometimes you won't even have the chance to debut!"
"Especially with the way you sing and what you can do." Added the sarcastic judge.
I shook my head at their heartlessness, but at the same time, I wonder how many desperate contestants have they seen today. Each and every participant who tell the judges that they could not live any longer if they were unable to pass the audition.
I kicked my right feet forward as I began to walk away, but, as I passed through the door, I saw that guy kneeling down before lowering his forehead until it touched the ground. "Does he..." I murmured. "Really have to do that?" I stared at that desperate contestant as he continued to bow at the judges while begging tearfully for the judges to accept him. The female announcer quickly pulled the contestant up, but he shoved her away as he continued to bow.
I felt disgusted at that image. I wanted to remove that guy from the ground, but I had no right to interfere. It was his audition, after all. He could do whatever he had wanted to do, and I was just some random guy who happened to be around.
What is wrong with you? A voice appeared inside my head. You can't just let him be!
"But what can I do?" I replied. Follow him if you're not going to do something now. He might be in danger due to his extreme actions. Who knows what he might be doing next? "Fine."
The female announcer was unable to do anything and so she came out of the room to ask for security help. She blindly pushed me out of the way as she had no time to waste. If she could not handle this well, she might just be sacked.
"I thought you have passed your audition earlier?" She said without actually speaking to me directly. She just talked as she looked around. "Why are you still standing here?"
"Me?" I muttered while slowly raising my hand to point at myself. "I was just... passing by."
"Please get out of the way if your audition is already over." She scolded.
I shrugged as I walked away. Just then, I saw the security officers carrying the participant out, and he quickly dashed off away from there. I tried to look natural as I began to trail after him. I slowly paced forward, never losing sight of him. "Something is up," I thought. "Looks like this place isn't as boring as I think it is..."
